NEW BOAT FOR CYGNET HALL

8 Mar 10

'THE CHAPPELL'

The newest boat for Cygnet Hall was christened on Saturday morning at Champion Lakes, prior to the start of the Wesley Regatta.

Bruce (1941-45) and Ross Chappell (1950-54) were the guests of honour for the day - the boat being named in recognition of the contribution the Chappell family (including David (1947-1951) now deceased) have made to rowing over the years. They are seen here giving a suitably smashing finish to the christening ceremony!

Immediately after the christening, both Bruce and Ross were surrounded by the Hale rowing team and given a war cry they will not forget.

After giving the 1st VIII a few clues on how to win the Head of the River, the new boat was put in the water for its first race.
