Old Boys, Arthur Lodge (1942-1952) and Martin Brandreth (1947-1957) were honoured to be able to accompany their grandchildren to the official opening of the new Middle School.
Martin, a past board member, sees it as being a new era for Hale School.
“The facilities offer an outstanding solution to the transition from Junior School into Senior School,” he said, “and from the Government system into the Private education system. Tom finds it so stimulating. It’s the best thing that’s ever happened!”
Arthur was very proud to report that Lynden is a fourth generation Old Haleian! Arthur's father, Jack having attended Hale School - then known as High School from 1907-1911.
The formal opening of the Middle School on Friday, 5 March was a dignified and appropriately inclusive occasion with boys, staff, parents, Board of Governors and representatives of both the building company and architects in attendance.
“The theme of the morning”, said Head of Middle School, Mr Michael Valentine, “was the sense of identity we wish to establish for boys of Middle School as they journey through Hale School.”
Many of the boys acknowledged afterwards that they were proud to be a part of such a special event. Equally proud, on the day were these two Old Haleians!
