Fraser Hall, (Year 12, Parry) attended a lunch hosted by the Old Haleians’ Association recently, at which, Christian Porter (1983-1987), Terry Waldron (1962-1968) and Bill Marmion (1970-1971) discussed ‘The Business of Politics.’
Even though Fraser is not actually studying politics at school, he was keen to attend and persuaded his father, also an Old Haleian to take him along. During question time the subject of the very topical ‘super profits tax’ emerged and Fraser was all ears - as 'The resources super-tax will benefit Australia' was the topic for the House Debating finals that were looming fast!
Fraser, who was arguing in the negative, cornered Mr Porter prior to the lunch for some pointers and was also lucky enough to get even more information from another Old Haleian in attendance.
Fraser was the first speaker for the negative side and with help from such influential ‘friends’ it was no surprise that Parry House, went on to win the House Debating.
