Applications are now open for the Lister Drake Scholarship
9Feb2023

The Lister Drake Scholarship is open to students who are in Year 10 (2023) who are direct descendents of Old Haleians.

The Old Haleians’ Association (OHA) has always played an important role in contributing to the aims and welfare of Hale School and its students. For many years, this positive support and involvement has included the Association funding a bursary scheme. In 1995, assisted by funds bequeathed from the estate of former Deputy Headmaster, Mr Lister Drake, the scheme was widened to also provide scholarships.

The Lister Drake Scholarship is open to students who are in Year 10 (2023) who are direct descendents of Old Haleians. Applicants do not currently have to be attending Hale School. All eligible students are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship is for Years 11 and 12 and is up to the value of 25% remission of local day fees.

The awarding of the Lister Drake Scholarship will be determined by:
• completion of an online application
• results of an academic examination
• submission of a written 300-word essay
• interview with the Headmaster and representatives of the OHA

Boys will be shortlisted for an interview based on their application and results of the examination.  Applicants may sit the examination either at Hale School or remotely at their current school.

Applications are made online via the Hale School website. Click HERE for more details and to apply.

The examination for local candidates will be held at Hale School on Tuesday 14 March 2023 at 8.30am.
