                  INFORMING PARENTS ABOUT EXPLICIT
                  ONLINE CONTENT







                  Hale believes that when the School and parents work together, the best results are achieved for our boys.
                  We are committed to working with families to support students.
                  We know that the challenges facing boys are real, complex and evolving,
                  and as a school we are being more intentional about providing information
                  for parents and guardians to know how to deal with these issues.
                  One of the initiatives we have introduced in the last couple of years is   PARENT
                  staging an annual marquee event on a topic of interest for our parent
                  received very positively, in 2022 another challenging topic was explored:  SERIES
                  community. In 2021, Maggie Dent, Desiree Silva and Matthew Pavlich
                  discussed supporting boys to become good men, offering insights into the
                  development of the adolescent brain. Attended by hundreds of parents and

                  explicit online images.
                  At the start of Term 4 more than 700 parents congregated to learn about   2023
                  ‘Teenage relationships in the online age’. Maree Crabbe – an expert on the
                  topic – was joined by former WA Police Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan
                  and AFL great Bob Murphy to share the reality of the harmful content

                                                                               The Parent Series is a collection of
                                                                               talks, workshops and resources for
                                                                               parents and carers to better understand
                                                                               and support challenges and changes
                                                                               at various stages of their son’s

                                                                               The first event will be on ‘Strengthening
                                                                               children and teens against anxiety’ on
                                                                               Tuesday 21 February. The presenter is
                                                                               Karen Young, a renowned psychologist
                                                                               and author of four books including
                                                                               the bestselling Hey Warrior and Hey
                                                                               Awesome, which creatively assist
                                                                               children to understand and manage
                                                                               anxiety.
