Association recognises staff who
LISTER DRAKE have worked at Hale School over
an extended period of time. We
SCHOLAR FOR acknowledge and congratulate
the following 23 staff who were
2023-24 recently presented with Certificates
of Service for their dedication,
enthusiasm and long-term
commitment to Hale School.
The Lister Drake Scholarship is awarded to a student who is a direct
descendant of an Old Haleian. Established in 1995 with the assistance of 40 YEARS
funds bequeathed from the estate of former Deputy Headmaster, Lister Drake, Mrs Lana Garner
it is awarded each year to a student in Year 10 for Years 11 and 12 and is to
the value of 25% of academic tuition fees. 25 YEARS
The Old Haleians’ Association committee is pleased to announce that this year’s Mrs Di Tucker-Raymond
recipient of the Lister Drake Scholarship (awarded for 2023 and 2024) is Digby
House (Year 10 Loton). Digby commenced at Hale School as a Year 4 student 20 YEARS
in 2016. His father, Chris House (1987-91), grandfather, Frank House (1957-61) Mr Brenton Hantke
and great-grandfather, Maurice House (1916) also attended Hale School. Mr Simon Hunt
Digby’s Head of House, Gareth Roberts said Digby has been an exemplary Mrs Louise Lindegaard
student in all aspects of his education. Mr Gareth Roberts
“He is a boy who is always positive and rarely without a smile, such is his outlook Ms Julie Roberts
on life. His commitment to the co-curricular program at Hale School has been Mr Tim Simpson
extensive. Digby has been involved in service learning, debating, public speaking,
Redfoot theatre and music – testament to his passion for all things Hale. Digby 15 YEARS
is also a keen sportsman and has represented the 1st XI hockey team in Year 10.

“Digby is widely admired by his peers, teachers and coaches for the way he goes Ms Katie Feutrill
about his business in all settings. He leaves nothing in reserve in every pursuit Mrs Wendy Keene
he undertakes. Digby is a very committed scholar and his academic profile is
impressive. His work ethic and independent approach define him, along with his Mr Trevor Pearse
enthusiasm and co-operative nature. The breadth of his interests and abilities Mr Joseph Zlnay
means he will have a wide array of courses from which he can choose for 2023.
As a school, we strive to have our young men take responsibility for their actions 10 YEARS
and their learning and Digby does this without fail. We are fortunate to have him Mrs Katie Doyle
as part of Loton House and Hale School and he has set a great foundation for Mrs Amanda Dunn
making his mark on both in his final two years.” Mrs Jenny Preston
